Whoa! The voting system just told me "Congratulations! Your vote was the last vote needed for this submission to be protected!". That's new, lol.

Review time

Presentation: Visuals were top notch, sound was great. 5/5

Gameplay: The controls were flawless; every aspect of the physics were great. The fun factor holds up as well; I could play this for hours! 5/5

Concept: Very unique take on the point A to Point B puzzle platformer. Though I don't know about the main character being a green blob. 4/5

Story: There doesn't seem to be a story :/. 0/5. Story has a small influence on my overall score.

Atmosphere: Atmosphere is a tough concept to explain. Atmosphere is what makes resident evil 1 and 2 legitimately scary. Atmosphere is what gives you the chills when playing something like Silent hill. Atmosphere is what gives a game its "soul", and is a understandably very difficult to get right. 2/5

This was an enjoyable game, but it does lack in some aspects.

3.5/5

On a basis of programming, this is excellent. Ray casting is probably on of the most advanced concepts in programming, so congratulations for that, and good luck creating a full 3D game in the future. I look forward to seeing that.

However, as this is a serious review, I am looking at this in the big picture as a game. It is not a full game, but it is fun for a while. You show advanced programming knowledge, but the graphics are simple.

I usually use five categories to rate a game: Presentation, Gameplay, Concept, Story, and Atmosphere. But I won't bother factoring story, atmosphere, or Gameplay into the score since this appears to be a simple proof of concept, and that would make those aspects irrelevant.

This leaves Presentation and Concept.

Concept: A 3D Maze, while a good concept, has been done before; but if done right, it can be mind blowing

Presentation: The presentation is basic. I don't know if showing the other walls through the walls in front of the character is a good idea, but I guess if you make this into a full game and find a nice twist to make it both a blessing and a curse, then that would count for a pro. There is no sound.

I give a 3/5 for all of these considerations.

If I were looking at this purely in the sense of programming, I would give a 5/5

it is too short

I have infinite jumps, showing that you made no effort to change that from the stencyl demo

There's a question of originality that comes with slapping angry birds sprites over a demo platformer engine

Angry birds isn't even a platformer, so I don't get where you're going with this

There's no sound

There's no life

There's no story

all in all, this needs work. A LOT of work.

I give this a barely passing vote of 2/5 since it amused me for a few minutes.

What I was able to play was good, but I don't think my browser can handle the HTML5.

It lags like crazy!

3.5/5

The jumping physics need some work, it's way too slow and makes me feel like I'm on the moon. Besides that, the controls are otherwise tight.

The game is very fun, and reminds me of SNES games, so definitely a plus on the nostalgia factor!

4/5

Feels wonky and static.

The camera feels like it was taken from a tutorial, and the movement is slippery like a typical sub-par game.

The character, background and tile set all feel lifeless, you might as well have drawn black squares for them all. You can never have too much variety.

The music doesn't fit very well, and there should be a mute option.

The controls are simple enough, but I still think the jumping physics need work.

I get the vibe that this was made in less than a week.

For now, I give a failing score of 1/5

If you plan on working on all of these things and making a better game in the future, then good luck ;)

Very well-designed game. The controls could be a little tighter, that's my only gripe.

I can easily see this being front paged

I know what I said about the other shark game...

But holy FUCK this was EPIC.

This is actually better than all three of the others IMO

5/5, no question about it.

...I still wanna see "chicago bear" though, lol.

Great game, but there were some minor glitched

Like the fact that I found all 100 horrors and did not get the sexual lobster medal

4/5

deathink responds:

hmmm... I will look in to this for you, sorry about that.

Since this isn't a game, and the medal pops up every 10 seconds showing a clear lack of foresight in the programming, I am going to give a vote of 0/5 stars.

We don't need another B

SwagMuffin responds:

Your name has a B in it

Hi. I make games and software. I'm not on NG much, but feel free to peruse my youtube and gitlab for interesting stuff.
