This was a little more focused. Again, the serious part is the intro. After the percussions come in is where I start spamming sounds to clutter up the sound.

The point for most of the troll uploads was to make something half decent, but clutter it up with noise. I wasn't about to make the same mistakes bluesectionrow18 made, lol. He WAS the guy that inspired me to make these crappy songs, though. He just wasn't very subtle about it.

Looking back, though, this one's actually half decent.

I actually did think this was pretty cool at the time...the intro, that is.

I still think the intro is good, actually. But once the piano and other effects come in, you can see where I just spammed random shit.

Since I can't edit the information on the songs anymore (I dunno why), I'll just provide commentary through these reviews, while at the same time rating what I think it deserves.

Now, through most of these early songs, I was learning how to use FL Studio, and submitting the crappy loops I came up with as a weird attempt to troll.

Looking back, it was pretty bad. At least I got subtlety right...sorta.

This one was half serious. I wanted to make a sad-ish song.

I love how I uploaded the same song three times.

This one was definitely a troll upload.

God I was bad at trolling.

Ugh, this is embarrassing.

Don't know why I was so egotistical about this when I uploaded it.

I guess I needed a year long break from FL studio (and judging how buggy it is on linux, I don't think I'll be returning to it any time soon...)

I mean, I didn't really know anything about musical theory back then, or DAW software for that matter. I learned by doing, and never took lessons.

My process was (on piano) hitting notes until I found a combo that sounded good, harmonious, and (FL Studio) spamming filters and badly EQing.

Song is too noisy, too polluted. Spammed the bass boost filter, went too nuts with the notes, not letting the sustain cool off. Used the same Sytrus presets all the time. Sounds like a generic metal song, actually...

Looking back, this deserves a 2.5 at best.

On a related note, I wish I could record some of my piano improv sessions these days. Learning theory has to be one of the best music related decisions I've ever made. Knowing what to call the chords I've already figured out from ten years of playing piano with no training, knowing how to extend them to other scales, and thus becoming much better at matching and making patterns. Minor 7ths. Fuck I love minor 7ths.

Reminds me of the Metroid Prime series.

Epic song dude.

MindChamber responds:

i still need to play those, thanks!

The melody reminds me a lot of race around the moon.

That song was the original reason I subscribed to you here.

4.5/5 Incredible Production

Waterflame responds:

Thank you! :D yeah its really typical of me, this type of chord progression and melody. i just made it to.. calm down, i guess ^^ glad you liked it :D

This reminds me so much of LSD: Dream Emulator

Fuckin' weird game...

Hi. I make games and software. I'm not on NG much, but feel free to peruse my youtube and gitlab for interesting stuff.
