[Summer Stuff]

I'm torn between liking it for the instrumentals, and not liking it because it's hip hop, which isn't a genre I tend to enjoy (though there are exceptions, as with every genre)

I don't wanna be a jerk, though, so I'll just leave it at a 3/5

Yeah I've uploaded quite a bit here, though not so much vocal work until these last few years. There'll be more though, though mostly hiphop!

Thanks glad you enjoyed it. Adding a little sub bass is something I plan on eventually going back and doing but for not I want to start a new song.

Meh

I give kudos for the effort, but I'm not a fan of midi and midi presets. I think it sounds too dry and bland, there needs to be some love put into it; a more dynamic drum beat, better voices, better EQ. Overall, I have to give this a 6, it was a good effort, but right now, it sounds like a garage band :(

Suggestions:

Try searching the net for some better drum sounds, add some bass, take away the repetitive clash sound, Try learning how to use Sytrus--people say it's a crappy synthesizer, but when you learn how to use it and make your own voices, you can literally blow people away. Use the mixer, add effects, add EQ, use filters, use what ever is necessary to make your song as beautiful as possible.

One more thing, always avoid midi, using a midi file has random, off beat, often horrible sounding consequences. You also don't get much creative freedom if you're not there making the riff.

Yeah, I completely agree with your stance on midi's since I find that a lot of the time they're so off that even when I try to fix the problems, it still doesn't sound authentic and real. :/

I'll have to give Sytrus a try. Hopefully it's more enjoyable then importing and screwing around with midi's in Reaper. Also does Sytrus allow VSTs? I have NI Komplete 3 and it's quite an extensive high quality library (guess midi's really don't do it justice lol) and I think it'd be a waste if I couldn't utilize it/further use it.

I wish NG had an eleventh star rating that you could only use once a day or to a ridiculous extent--a week, that way people could give 11/10 and it would ACTUALLY mean something.

i don't know either - wait, THANKS first! - It was voted down below 0.2 in the first day. I know it's not Beethoven and all, but cmon! I blame the fact that I declared it as "Hip Hop" first. After that It was voted zero again so i thought 'ok, now let's get it all the way down'. but I stopped voting it down in the meantime so...
